1. Surf Exchange - Itacaré, Brazil
What is the project
The Surf Exchange aims to support the caiçaras communities of Itacaré, in Bahia, by promoting the practice of surfing and environmental work such as reforestation, transforming addicted points of garbage into community gardens, monitoring activities with the turtles of the Tamar project, among others activities.
What activities can you do
The opportunities offered by this host include giving surf lessons to the local population and acting in activities with a focus on environmental preservation.
The project charges an extra fee to cover the costs of accommodation and transportation of participants to the location, surf lessons dedicated to volunteers, donation to socio-environmental projects, local guide that accompanies and coordinates all activities and administrative fees, such as taxes, marketing , among other costs.
What you get in return
Benefits include two free days a week, accommodation in a shared room, breakfast and lunch, access to the kitchen, discounts on restaurants, surfboards and surf lessons. The volunteers have the daily support of a local guide, who promotes surfing lessons and organizes participation in the proposed socio-environmental projects.
